Alex Schmidt is a director with Kearney. He is the Solutions manager for the deployment of NEXT Procurement, which is a custom-tailored application of NEXT, deployed to accelerate value from Procurement Transformation projects. Alex is based in Kearney’s Chicago office.

Prior to joining Kearney’s NEXT Procurement team, Alex has over 8 years of experience in Kearney’s Analytics Practice across a broad range of industries. Alex is an expert within the logistics space. A sample of his consulting engagement experience includes:

Led a post-merger transportation sourcing exercise using Collaborative Optimization and centrally-managed stakeholders across many disparate business units
Conducted a logistics strategy assessment to identify cost reduction opportunities and freight margin improvements for a tech client
Developed an end-to-end network optimization model including manufacturing and warehouse nodes to identify opportunities for a simpler footprint design
Led a multi-initiative global logistics sourcing project addressing full truckload, less-than-truckload, ocean freight, air freight, and network consolidation
Analyzed a food processing client’s internal trucking fleet using optimization of lane allocation and improving asset utilization
Developed the strategy for a CPG client’s frozen food warehousing network to reduce in-year cost and also set the long-term strategies to continually drive value by aligning proper incentives within the contract structure

Alex holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from Purdue University.
