Driven by the desire to do work that could benefit all of society, Vishal Bhandari began to gravitate toward healthcare and life sciences consulting even before he joined Kearney in 2008. Since then, he has developed extensive industry experience and knowledge and served clients across the entire healthcare value chain.

“I strive to bring real, noticeable impact while doing good by working with healthcare and life sciences clients to support innovation and improve health access and affordability,” Vishal explains. “We serve leading global healthcare and life sciences companies with a tight-knit, experienced team that understands the full value chain, from early discovery through clinical operations and payors, allowing us to bring practical, high-impact solutions to our clients.”

For Vishal, clients are far more than accounts—they’re individuals who, over time, often become trusted partners and friends. He finds the greatest joy in helping clients, peers, and teams who have placed their trust in him succeed. “Seeing people grow in their careers, whether clients or Kearney colleagues, and knowing I’ve played a role in that journey is incredibly rewarding,” he says.

Vishal first witnessed the potential impact of his work early in his career when he helped a major pharmacy chain rethink its strategies for sourcing and distributing drugs, which kicked off a broad industry value chain realignment of roles starting from generic drug companies, contract manufacturers, packaging companies, distributors, and GPOs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he also led an industry-first collaboration across pharmaceutical companies to help alleviate critical drug shortages at a time of unprecedented strain on the healthcare system. More recently, he worked with a biotech company to bring a treatment for a rare disease to market by helping them rethink their supply chain and manufacturing strategy to bring their drug to market at a non-cost-prohibitive price.

A native of India, Vishal is endeavoring to pay his home country back through volunteer work with the National Cancer Institute. In addition to his advisory work, he is also helping to advance their research mission by helping them to collaborate with similar organizations in the US.

Vishal and his wife, a physician, have two sons. The boys keep them busy with activities like squash, and the family shares a love of travel, often spontaneous and driven by curiosity rather than detailed itineraries. The boys have already visited more than 20 countries. When at home, Vishal finds relaxation by gardening at his Chicago-area home.
