Javier Gonzalez works in a range of industry segments, but he has a special passion for working with rail and mobility companies. “Trains are my passion, going back to my childhood playing with model railroads,” he notes. “That absolutely influenced my decision to study civil engineering and to begin my career by working as a project engineer on technologies like high-speed rail.”

This love of rail led Javier to cofound Kearney’s Advanced Mobility Institute, which helps companies, governments, and nonprofits around the world implement innovative mobility solutions by working across the mobility ecosystem to modernize and improve transportation through a data-driven approach. Locally, he also cofounded the Madrid Green Urban Mobility Lab, which has brought more than 50 companies together with Kearney to co-create mobility projects. “I’m extremely passionate about mobility and all the transformation taking place in this space. This really drives me. We’re doing some amazing things,” he says.

Javier credits his time in industry with giving him a solid technical background that he continues to draw upon several decades into his Kearney career. “We work on impactful, transformative projects for leading companies,” he states. “Our best asset is our talent; I’m constantly surrounded by amazing people, as both my colleagues and clients are constantly helping to advance my thinking.”

Beyond rail, Javier works in a variety of sectors on a range of topics, with a preference for engagements aimed at growing the top line. He’s tackled a number of turnaround, restructuring, and efficiency improvement projects for large industrial and infrastructure companies over the years. He’s also worked on many governance and organizational design engagements, supporting the transition from local to global businesses for several infrastructure players. He also regularly works on operations improvement projects, including supply chain and procurement, and commercial due diligence efforts.

Javier is also passionate about driving innovation and new business models. He has recently led several projects and published multiple articles on advanced air mobility, leading Kearney’s collaboration with the World Economic Forum in this space.

Javier and his wife have four children, and he enjoys watching and playing sports with them. He’s a regular attendee at Real Madrid matches and was himself a footballer through his business school days. He also likes basketball, skiing, sailing, paddle, tennis, and golf as well as electric train models.
