You could say Sumeet Ladsaongikar likes a challenge. Leaving his native India for the first time to further his studies, he chose to complete a Master’s degree in Spain – despite not speaking any Spanish. “It was an interesting way of testing myself,” he says. “I was surrounded by other students speaking all these different languages, so I had to learn fast.”

He has always been fascinated by how things work, and how they are made. “Ever since I got out of school, I’ve had a passion for manufacturing. Going to a plant and talking to people to understand what works and what doesn’t work is deeply engaging and satisfying. I like to be where the action is.”

Sumeet’s time in Spain also served to broaden his industry expertise. He now spends the majority of his time helping clients with end-to-end value chain transformations, and gets a kick from seeing projects through from strategy to execution. “It becomes very real, very quickly when you are looking to optimise all the activities needed to create a product or service. If I say we will improve by ‘x’, I am very often there when that happens, which is really great.”

Sumeet has been with Kearney for a decade, and previously served PwC in India in its Strategy, Transformation and Operations group. He also specialises in manufacturing excellence and strategic operations work, mainly supporting corporates in the chemicals and industrial equipment sectors.

When it comes to working relationships, he values straight talking: “I have a core group of friends here at Kearney who I have worked with for a long time. They are not afraid to say it as they see it, and that is a big thing for me.”

He still loves to travel whenever possible, and even enjoys visits to less glamorous locations. In his spare time, Sumeet is a cricket fan and an avid reader. He is also passionate about Indian classical music and is a trained vocalist.
